The Highlight of All Highlighters: Glossier’s “Haloscope”

Wearing Haloscope in Moonstone by Glossier.

If you’re wondering (you’re probably not), it’s 7:30 PM on a Sunday and I’m currently avalanched under a dozen or so blankets looking for the answers to all of my life’s questions at the bottom of a Ben & Jerry’s mint chocolate cookie (non-dairy) pint of ice cream. So this evening doesn’t look so promising, and I’ve been quite uninspired as of late, but I did manage to snap the above photo in the ten seconds of sunshine allotted to us this weekend, so I’m desperate to talk to you about the highlighter I’m wearing.

This is odd for me because I’m not usually one to dole out makeup advice considering my complete lack of expertise. Beauty guru I am most definitely not. I’ve always preferred a more minimal and natural look on myself, so I always colored inside the lines/kept to the basics. My cosmetic knowledge is therefore elementary at best, BUT I do think I may be onto something with Glossier’s Haloscope in shade Moonstone. Since Glossier has become quite a name, the world might already be aware of this realization that I am only just now deciding to share, but nevertheless I will toss in my two cents to anyone listening and tolerant of a bit of redundancy.

This product is described as a “dew effect highlighter” that provides the effect of “an opalescent glaze” through the combination of vitamin-infused moisturizers and extracts from real crystals. The glow that is conveyed is marvelous—I cannot say enough good things about it. If you’re unsure about where to apply the highlight, I would suggest the following sites that I personally use: above and below the browbone towards the tapered end of the eyebrow, along the tops of the cheekbones, from tip of the nose in a straight line up towards the center of the forehead fanning out slightly, in the Cupid’s bow, along the upper outer perimeter of the lips, and on the chin. I’ve found that these spots reflect light most suitably, sculpting the face most flatteringly.

Now I can’t say this is the best highlighter out there because I’ve only tried a handful, but I will, despite my ignorance, because I am so pleased with its quality, performance, longevity, and affordability. Well done, Glossier.
